On Saturday, 27 June 2026, the Museo Hoffmann in Caltagirone had the pleasure and honour of welcoming the friends of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Syracuse, on the occasion of a special day dedicated to culture, inclusion, the discovery of the local area and the enhancement of sensory experience.
The initiative represented an important moment of encounter between the staff of the Museo Hoffmann, the city of Caltagirone and the UICI of Syracuse, confirming the role of the museum as an open, accessible place, capable of welcoming visitors, associations, families and groups from all over Sicily, Italy and abroad.
A Special Visit to the Museo Hoffmann in Caltagirone
The day took place in an atmosphere of great participation, friendship and sharing. The guests of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Syracuse were able to experience the spaces of the Museo Hoffmann up close, discovering the history of the ancient kiln, the museum areas, the outdoor spaces and the activities designed to make the visit engaging and accessible, as well as visiting the immersive multimedia room.
The images of the day tell the story of meaningful moments: the arrival in Caltagirone, the welcome at the museum, the meetings in the outdoor areas, the visit to the historic kiln and participation in the hands-on workshops.
A particularly moving moment was the activity dedicated to working with clay, which allowed the participants to come into direct contact with one of the most representative elements of Caltagirone’s cultural identity: ceramics.
The Clay Workshop: Culture, Touch and Inclusion
During the visit, the participants took part in a creative workshop dedicated to clay modelling. It was a simple yet deeply meaningful experience, as it placed touch, manual skill, creativity and direct contact with the material at the centre of the activity.
Ceramics, a historic symbol of Caltagirone, thus became a tool for knowledge, participation and inclusion. Through contact with clay, each participant was able to enjoy a personal and authentic experience, in line with the mission of the Museo Hoffmann: to tell the memory of the territory through accessible, engaging activities open to everyone.
