Caltagirone celebrates the Farmers’ Jubilee 2025: faith, tradition, and community

Caltagirone (CT), September 28, 2025 – A Sunday filled with spirituality, tradition, and strong public participation enlivened the city of Caltagirone on the occasion of the Farmers’ Jubilee 2025, held at the Jubilee Sanctuary of the Most Holy Crucifix of Soccorso.

The event was promoted by C.I.A. Eastern Sicily – Caltagirone branch, represented by Municipal President Salvatore Grassiccia, with the valuable collaboration of CIA official Calogero Giancona and Guido Rocchi, together with the Diocese of Caltagirone and the charismatic Father Enzo Mangano, tireless spiritual guide and rector of the Sanctuary.
Adding further significance to the event was the honored presence of Giosuè Catania, Provincial President of the CIA for Eastern Sicily.

The Tractor Gathering at the Hoffmann Museum

The day began at 9:30 a.m. with a gathering of tractors in the parking area of the Hoffmann Museum, which for the occasion was transformed into an open-air stage showcasing both tradition and innovation.
Dozens of agricultural vehicles – from historic models such as the Fiat 18 to modern state-of-the-art tractors – welcomed families, faithful, and visitors in a festive atmosphere.

At 10:30 a.m., the Jubilee pilgrimage of farmers began. Driving their tractors, they proceeded in an orderly procession toward the Sanctuary, carrying with them not only the symbol of agricultural labor but also a living testimony of faith and hope.

The Holy Mass and the Blessing of the Tractors

The highlight of the day took place at 11:00 a.m. with the Solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Father Don Davide Paglia (Diocesan Coordinator for the Jubilee), followed by the blessing of the tractors.
A deeply symbolic gesture that united faith and labor, underscoring the essential role of farmers as guardians of creation and of their community.

Statements from the Hoffmann Museum

At the close of the event, the CEOs of the Hoffmann Museum, Gianluca Iurato and Salvatore Raccuglia, expressed their satisfaction with the success of the day:

“We express our deepest admiration for the dynamic Father Enzo Mangano, whose boundless energy transforms faith into a beacon of attraction and hope in this time of profound uncertainty.
A sincere tribute also goes to Calogero Giancona and Guido Rocchi, who, with extraordinary skill, coordinated the management of the agricultural vehicles – an impressive and harmonious procession, led by respectful and disciplined drivers, which brought prestige to the gathering at the Hoffmann Museum and concluded at the Sanctuary of Our Lord of Soccorso.”

A Message of Hope

The Farmers’ Jubilee 2025 in Caltagirone was not merely a religious celebration but also a powerful sign of community and hope in a complex historical moment.
Faith, tradition, and labor blended together in a day that will remain etched in the collective memory.
