National Day of Legality 2026 in Caltagirone

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Hoffmann Museum in Caltagirone will host the National Day of Legality, an event dedicated to honoring the memory of victims of the mafia and promoting a culture of legality.
The initiative, organized by the Association Conadomini E.T.S., with the free patronage of the Municipality of Caltagirone and in collaboration with the Hoffmann Museum, Pro Loco, the Youth Council, and the Zero Molestie Sinalp Help Desk (all based in Caltagirone), represents an important opportunity for discussion on key issues such as justice, rights, active citizenship, and civic engagement, involving institutions, experts, young people, and citizens.
Program of the Day of Legality at the Hoffmann Museum
The event will begin at 9:00 AM with participant registration, followed by institutional greetings and a public debate on key topics related to legality:
- Legality as a daily cultural value
- The importance of reporting wrongdoing
- Prevention of violence and intimidation
- The role of citizens in protecting the local territory
- Defense of democratic institutions
- Education for legality in schools
- The importance of memory as an educational tool
At 11:15 AM, a remembrance moment titled “Remembering to Choose Which Side to Stand On” will take place, followed by the “Tree of Memory” ceremony, dedicated to victims of the mafia.
At 12:00 PM, space will be given to young people with “Legality Told by Students”, featuring presentations of essays, poems, and creative works by students. The event will conclude at 12:30 PM.
